Season 2011 should be one which the club looks forward to with great confidence. After a fine 2010 season which resulted in promotion to the revamped Premiership, we should be excited about the challenges that lie ahead.
On the playing front we have recruited Jeevantha Kulatunga as our professional. "Kalu" as he is typically known should provide undoubted quality on the field as well as off it with his vast experience. Dan Stevenson returns as out overseas amateur for a third season and is eagerly anticipating coming up against the best of Scottish cricket. Dan's off spin bowling will be vital for us this season and we hope he can develop his batting also.
We have a largely unchanged playing squad for 2011 and are rpoud that the majority of our players have risen through the ranks at Drumpellier. However, we will be missing a couple of players this season notably Ian Warden and MIchael Anderson. Ian has proven to be a vital all-rounder for us since he arrived from Newcastle, sadly for him a back injury looks to have ruled him out for a majority of the season. Michael has study and work commitments but we are hopeful he will play some part of our campaign. On a positive note this gives our youngsters such as Darren Pryde and Abdul Sabri the opportunity to cement a 1st XI spot and continue Drumpellier's proud tradition of developing its own youngsters.
Hard work and good team spirit is the key for us performing well this season and I have no doubt whatsoever that we have the players capable of making an impact in the Premiership.
